The ECR ("Efficient Consumer Response") movement effectively began in the mid-nineties and was characterised by the emergence of new principles of collaborative management along the supply chain. It was understood that companies can serve consumers better, faster and at less cost by working together with trading partners.
The ECR SA CONFERENCE is an annual event that showcases the achievement and benefits of trading partners working together in order to reduce inefficiencies within the supply chain, in order to better meet the needs of shoppers and consumers. Whilst ECR initially focused on the FMCG environment, the principles apply across any industry whose business is to meet the needs of consumers i.e. the principle of supply and demand. In addition, the conference is also seen as an opportunity to review and discuss issues that are pertinent & could impact on the strategic focus of businesses within South Africa. Speakers are sourced both locally and internationally. The conference is normally attended by over 500 delegates and includes top and middle managers from all business functions across retailers/wholesalers, manufacturers, logistics and service providers.
In addition to the delegates, the conference hosts a marketplace where industry participants are able to showcase their businesses to the industry.
